The newly renovated Nursing Simulation Laboratory was unveiled in April 2009 during a weekend of celebrating the forty-fifth anniversary of nursing at Penn State.
About the Simulation Laboratory
The Nursing Simulation Laboratory is designed to give students hands-on clinical experience and includes numerous wards:
- An intensive care unit
- A pediatric room
- A maternity room
- A "fundamentals" laboratory
- A three-room primary care suite
Each room is occupied by high-tech mannequins that simulate symptoms, diseases, and conditions that nurses are likely to see in a real care setting (for example, the maternity room includes a mannequin that delivers a baby).
Continuing Education Courses
Registered nurses can earn contact hours through continuing education courses offered in the College of Nursing's state-of-the-art simulation lab. Visit the Outreach and Continuing Education web page for a list of current course offerings.
